Community Wealth Fund: £800m for local projects across the country
We were delighted to support the dedicated campaign to see the establishment of Community Wealth Funds for long term investment in our communities.
Last autumn, we called for the fund in our publication ‘Social Capitalism’, along with a dozen MPs.
On Tuesday 7th March, the government announced its decision to include community wealth funds as a named purpose of the English portion of dormant assets funding, worth around £800 million.
“A community wealth fund is a pot of money distributed to communities in deprived areas and released over a long time period. In line with the community wealth fund’s focus on giving more decision-making power to people”
Stuart Andrew MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport
